The Sanyo Pro xTrax projector, model number PLC-XP07N, was a multimedia projector first sold in November of 1999. The projector's cooling system consists of a fan that pulls cool air through an air filter, passes it over the light and vents it out of the projector. If your business is still using this model, keep it running by periodically cleaning or replacing its removable filter.
Changing the Filter
Changing the filter is a relatively simple process that starts with pressing the 'Lam Power On/Off' button to turn the projector off and letting it cool. Once the projector is cool to the touch, flip it on its side to access the bottom panel where the air filter access is located. Press in the two tabs that secure the cover and remove it. Lift the filter out and replace it with another one.
Cleaning the Filter
Sanyo designed the xTrax projector's air filter so that you could clean it, allowing you to extend its life between replacements. Clean it by removing the filter as if you are going to replace it. Instead of replacing it, though, use a vacuum cleaner attachment to vacuum the filter, removing the accumulated dirt. Before replacing the filter, vacuum the filter cover clean as well.
Replacement or Cleaning
The clearest indicator that your filter needs cleaning is when the projector's 'Temperature Warning Indicator' light begins to flash red. When the filter is dirty, air cannot easily pass through the projector and its temperature increases. Another way to tell that the filter needs changing or cleaning is to open the projector and look at the filter. If the filter appears clogged with dirt, it needs to be cleaned. If you cannot get it thoroughly clean, replace it.
Other Maintenance Items
In addition to the filter, the Sanyo xTrax projector includes two other items that require periodic maintenance. The lens attracts dirt and needs periodic cleaning to keep the projected image at its sharpest and clearest; clean it whenever the image appears grubby or make it a habit when you check the filter. The XTrax lamps also require periodic replacement like any other projector bulb.
